Shock and sadness reverberated in August of with the news that Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman had died of colon cancer at The original film was a massive hit and won three Oscars. Feige announced the news at Comic-Con when he invited Ali on the stage.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. The film was set for until Disney fired James Gunn , who directed the first two Guardians films, in July after reviewing many of his old tweets. The cast subsequently released a joint statement in support of Gunn. Eight months after its initial decision, Disney announced on March 15 that it had rehired Gunn to direct the film. Before Gunn was rehired by Disney, he signed with Warner Bros. Marvel Studios has agreed to being the production of Guardians 3 after Gunn completes Suicide Squad 2 , so it is unclear when the movie will premiere.

The final movie in the Guardians trilogy could launch at least one spinoff. In a post-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. Jonathan Majors will join as the villain Kang the Conquerer. Sony has reportedly tapped Olivia Wilde, who broke out as a director with her lauded first feature Booksmart , to helm a female-centric story in the Spider-Man universe.

The studio also floated the possibility of an Into the Spider-verse spinoff centered on Gwen Stacey but has not yet set a date for that movie. A movie based on the character Silk is also in the works. Expect them to lead the pack, along with some other female heroes like Spider-Woman, in this expected spinoff film. While the rest of the X-Men may be destined for the dumpster, both Deadpool movies were a major success for Fox, and Disney is likely to keep Ryan Reynolds on to play the Merc with a Mouth.

But Reynolds has taken to social media to joke about the Disney-Fox merger and hint that he will reprise the role under the Disney banner. When the merger was first announced, he posted a picture of Deadpool being escorted out of Disneyland. Despite reports that Sony had scrapped this movie, or even divided it into two different solo movies for Silver Sable and Black Cat, a producer of Venom recently said that the movie was still a-go, but that the writers are revamping the script.

Plot details are scarce, but Silver Sable, the head of an elite squad, will likely be hunting down the talented burglar Black Cat—until they join forces. Logan surprised just about everyone: The dark and poignant superhero movie set in earned critical praise and an Oscar nomination for Best Screenplay.

Logan director James Mangold is working on a script that would center on Laura, a. X, the little girl Logan shepherds across the country in that movie. But he has not given up hope on the film eventually making its way to the big screen. Write to Eliana Dockterman at eliana. Not only was he best friends to Captain America, nearly died, and turned into a super soldier for Hydra, but Bucky also fought Thanos alongside the Avengers and died in the snap.

Now, his best friend has aged to near death in the blink of an eye. Bucky needs a bit more stability, and The Avengers is the best group to do it. Bucky needs to find a new path. Now that his best friend is gone and, seemingly, the events of Civil War have been forgiven, Bucky is directionless. The Avengers would provide not only a physical home but a new metaphorical family to help him heal. Also, he would be tactically advantageous for this new band of heroes. Thor went through a bit of a change in Endgame, to say the least.

The God of Thunder suffered from immense depression after his failure in Wakanda, and as a side effect let himself go. Although it offered some amazing comedic moments Tony's Big Lebowski reference was a riot , it was never fully overcome. Thor's new appearance is going to be an uphill battle going into his new adventures with The Guardians of the Galaxy. With Thor off on some space adventures, The Avengers could use a full-blown Asgardian warrior on their side.

Who better than Valkyrie? Tessa Thompson's warrior goddess as taken command of the New Asgardians, and is ready to take on global threats at a moments notice. She would be the perfect addition to this new team. Avengers: Endgame delivered, reuniting the two and giving them the settled life of their dreams. Emotionally speaking, the biggest change in the two's life is the addition of their daughter Morgan Howard Stark.

When audiences first meet Morgan in Endgame , she had gone into her parent's belongings to find Pepper's Iron Woman helmet. She appears out of a play tent wearing it. Although it was a cute visual gag, it also feels like a hint that maybe one day Morgan will take on the Iron mantle. Although there is no evidence in the comics, as Tony and Pepper never technically have children, there is a precedent for a female Iron Man character.

Might Morgan eventually follow suit? After successfully ending the threat of Thanos, Steve takes on the duty of returning the Infinity Stones to their proper times.

Cap decides to return to his past, setting him off on an alternate timeline where he gets his happy ending with Peggy Carter. Eventually, he returned to the original timeline to say his final goodbye, and to present his shield to Sam Wilson.

In the comics, Sam becomes the new Captain America. Although he hasn't had a lot of time to grow in the MCU, maybe this new title will let him shine in a new role, and allow him to be a more significant presence in the Avengers. Matt Berger is a writer, comedian, actor, Paddington enthusiast, and Corgi dad. By Matt Berger Published May 03, The biggest takeaway from the trailer is that the show will take place during the Christmas season in the MCU. The series will consist of six episodes, with the first two episodes being released on 24 November.

Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, is back, as is perhaps more exciting the news that Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield may reprise their own versions of Peter Parker, setting up a potential live-action version of the hit animated film Into The Spiderverse. We also know from the trailer that villains from previous Spiderman films will appear, The trailer has given us Alfred Molina's Otto Octavius , hinted at Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, while rumours suggest we'll get to see Jamie Foxx's Electro too.

She first appeared in the comics and has become one of the largest successes for Marvel Comics in the short time since her inception.

It was announced that the series will debut in summer The plot for the upcoming film is rumoured to center around something happening in the Marvel Universe, perhaps started by Loki in his new series, which will lead to alternate universes merging in destructive ways, and Doctor Strange will presumably have to fix the situation. Interestingly, Marvel sneakily changed the WandaVision postcredits scene recently. The change adds a translucent figure that appears to be floating down towards the cabin where Wanda is practicing magic.

The inclusion of Doctor Strange's theme is a good sign it is in fact the sorcerer supreme heading down to talk to the Scarlet Witch. Interestingly, this change was made around the same time that an episode of Loki premiered showing the timeline being bombed by a Loki Variant.

Could that be the event that leads to the Multiverse of Madness? Curious, right? Chris Hemsworth is slated to return as the God of Thunder for the fourth Thor film, but this time he won't be the only Thor. Christian Bale is set to star as the villain, Gorr the God Butcher, an alien man who lost his family and finds a terrible weapon that he uses to take vengeance out on all the Gods in the universe. The highly anticipated sequel is expected to dive into the wider world of Wakanda, as Marvel announced it won't recast Chadwick Boseman's character following his tragic death.

The new title, Wakanda Forever, points toward there being a wider focus on the country, as well. There's also been speculation as to who could be the new leader of Wakanda, with Letitia Wright's Shuri rumoured to be the next Black Panther. Gunn, who wrote and directed all of the Guardians of the Galaxy films, has said he was inspired the Star Wars Holiday Special.

There's also the credits scene from Far From Home. This could be linked to the next Captain Marvel feature. This third Guardians film was initially slated to hit theaters much earlier, but Marvel delayed it when they announced James Gunn, the writer and director of the first two films, would be returning for a third installment he was busy working on Suicide Squad - hence the delay.

But it's since been delayed again. We have no exact details about what the plot could be for the new film, but it could see the Guardians looking for Gamora, who was missing at the end of Endgame. We do know the film will reveal the teased-character Adam Warlock, previewed at the end of Guardians 2, with Will Poulter's casting of the character being announced. Kang is a time traveler from far in the future who discovers the multiverse and time travel.

Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfieffer will also return in their previous roles. The Fantastic Four have been some of the premiere comic characters for Marvel since their inception. All that success, however, hasn't translated to the big screen yet, with three films produced since , and none of them being particularly successful. It's unknown when we can expect the film, but Marvel President Kevin Feige recently announced that a Fantastic Four film was in the beginning stage of production, with the director of the MCU's two Spider-Man films, Jon Watts, slated to direct as well. We expect to see Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes return for the feature film, perhaps along with a few other characters from the recent series , although nothing is confirmed at this stage.

The film's currently in the earliest stages of development with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's showrunner, Malcolm Spellman, penning the script. Super-early rumours are pointing to the return of two villains, one of which is Daniel Bruhl's Baron Zemo, who we last saw working with Sam and Bucky.

Hugo Weaving originally played the role. After winning an Oscar for Best Actor, Mahershala Ali set up a meeting with Marvel and let them know he wanted to play the vampire hunter Blade. Bassam Tariq has been tapped to direct the film, which was scheduled to begin filming in The most recent news to come out about the film appears to have been released mistakenly. Disney India posted a since-deleted tweet that showed Marvel's upcoming slate as well as Blade with a 7 October release date.

That would be a great spooky time for Marvel's first vampires to show up. While most of the excitement with Disney's purchase of Fox Films centered around potential future films for the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, it was easy to forget that Disney now owns the rated-R superhero Deadpool, and it's hard to imagine we'll have to wait long for him to show up in the MCU, officially.
