American amp manufacturers have held the line on price. Peavey amps for 1K, Boogies for 2K. And they are charging 2K for Korean? Nothing against the amp, but thats ridiculous profit for them. If there's nothing against the amp, then why not simply evaluate the price compared to the product?
What difference does it make if Koreans made it? For all any of us knows, they may be very well compensated workers, and Blackstar went to Korea because they still have an industrial base that can make a product to their standards and quantity. Or you're hunting down vintage. Pre loaded boards are used more than you might think and then shipped for final assembly elsewhere. Here in the states, the prices for top of the line, American built amps is more easily within reach, with literally 's of custom builders as well as a steady flow of vintage amps and a glut of used and barely used amps in every price range.

Where do you get that information? As far as I've been able to determine, Peavey has factories in Meridian, Mississippi where they are the major employer. The vast majority of Peavey product is made in Mississippi, where they have what is, in essence, a vertical monopoly going, meaning that they make nearly everything themselves out of raw materials and basic electronic components. This was a while ago, and in my opinion it has hurt his any all of the others who do it reputation. Why should it hurt his reputation? He had ideals that didn't fit with the global economy. He held out as much as he could. To participate in a particular market segment, he found he had to match competitor's production methods.
