Why do people hate wesley

Wil Wheaton's admitted that now he'd like to kick Wesley's ass too. People tend not to like obnoxious, precocious kids. I always had a bit of a soft spot for him, because let's face it, he was always right. Wesley improved a lot in the 2nd season when his mother left the ship and stopped being so over-protective of him.

When she left he was just a boy, when she got back he was almost a man. Almost all Star Trek fans didn't like him I like Wesley mostly in season 4 but not a favorite character.

He was a bit irritating occasionally, but he wasn't as bad as he's made out to be. Wil Wheaton's probably just still embarrassed about playing the know-all. There were some more irritating and certainly more useless characters, in my opinion, throughout the other series. Take Neelix, Kes and Mayweather for starters xD. That was why I liked Dr. Bashir, becuase he had that treatment when he was little so he could have acted alomost like Data He kept it inside.

Oi, what's wrong with Neelix? He was the Delta Quadrant's take on the Swiss Army knife. Wesley would have been ok if he acted more like his age most of the time rather than someone who was two steps away from unlocking the meaning of life. I couldn't stand Wesley, that smirking, know it all face was just looking to be smacked IMO. I'm not a great fan of kids anyway, but smug overly confident ones are just hideous! I agree. It wouldn't have been so bad if he didn't save the freakin' ship every other episode in the first season, and spot blindingly simple and obvious facts Lore pretending to be Data, the Traveller being behind the warp jumps, etc that none of the other senior officers - officers with years or decades of Starfleet frontier experience under their belts - could see, despite being right in front of their noses.

All because GR had to write himself into the pilot Well, it doesn't bother me that Wes noticed all those things. It does, however, bother me that the senior officers didn't! Well yes, you could argue that he can be irritating from time to time. But that can also be said for most everyone else on that ship save for lets say Guinan and Data lol.

Other than that, many people like him the most out of the characters. I hold it against the writers and producers that, after Wesley left with the Traveler, he could easily have popped into Voyager and helped them get home.
